The Raleigh Bicycle Company is a British bicycle manufacturer based in Nottingham, England and founded by Woodhead and Angois in 1885. Using Raleigh as their brand name, it is one of the oldest bicycle companies in the world. After being acquired by Frank Bowden in December 1888, it became The Raleigh Cycle Company, which was registered as a limited liability company in January 1889.

The American Defender Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1966 to 1981. It was played in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Raleigh Country Club from 1966 to 1974 and at the North Ridge Country Club from 1975 to 1981. The tournament was the LPGAs first tournament in North Carolina. In 1975, purse was $5,700. Winners American Defender/WRAL Golf Classic
