The incident took place in the late afternoon of January 18, 2019, on the Plaza of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. at the conclusion of a day of rallies for two groups, Indigenous Peoples March, and the March for Life. The marches had represented entirely separate purposes raising awareness of indigenous peoples issues and raising awareness of antiabortion issues respectively.
